After completing my education on the Gold Coast I commenced studying at the Queensland University of Technology in 1997 undertaking a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Arts (Justice Studies). I completed each of these Bachelor degrees in 2001.
I commenced working prior to completing my university studies, originally in a Brisbane CBD firm in the areas of Personal Injuries and Commercial Litigation. In 2001 I commenced working with a boutique family law firm on the Gold Coast and completed my two year articled clerkship with that firm. I was admitted in the Supreme Court of Queensland and the High Court of Australia in September 2003.
I have remained working exclusively in Family Law since 2003 both within boutique Family Law firms or managing the Family Law divisions of multi-disciplinary practices. In 2009 I attained recognition as a Queensland Law Society Accredited Specialist in Family Law.
I have continued to further my knowledge by completing my Masters in Applied Law (Family Law) through the College of Law, completing my Independent Children’s Lawyer training and my Practice Management Course in 2015.
I have a thorough and extensive knowledge of all aspects of Family Law from assisting parties to protect their assets prior to the commencement of their relationship to unraveling their financial relationship upon the end of their personal one. My experience is extensive in parenting disputes assisting parties to reach negotiated agreements or through the litigation process if that is required. I have a keen interest and specialized knowledge in parenting matters involving third party caregivers such as grandparents or extended family members as well as all matters pertaining to Surrogacy Law and assisted fertility issues.
I pride myself on being passionate about family law and taking a level headed and practical approach to dispute resolution where at all possible.
I also have provided volunteer legal assistance at the Robina Community Legal Centre and regularly mentor Bond University students via guest lectures on real life as a family lawyer and providing supervision of students through Bond University’s Family Law Clinic placement.
